In Vietnam, VNU-HCM An Giang University, along with 5 other prestigious music training institutes and Universities, had the opportunity to become Vietnamese partners in this international project. Participating in this project has had many positive impacts on the training work of the University and also offered many opportunities to An Giang University to develop music training in the future.

Firstly, through research and reporting activities, the University has spent time reviewing the current state of the development of music training and performance in Vietnam, especially online performance, along with the development of information technology in objective social contexts, (e.g., the Covid pandemic). These trends require common changes and adjustments in teaching activities, especially music training and music performance.

As a multidisciplinary higher education institute, An Giang University has a history of training in music. Currently, the University is orienting towards building an undergraduate training program in "Music Technology" at the Faculty of Tourism and Cultural Arts. Thanks to the survey activities during the VIETMUS project, the University has been reviewing and evaluating its current infrastructure conditions, on the basis of which the University can propose and direct appropriate investment in equipment to serve the training program in the future.

Advancing music technology training

One of the integral activities of the project is to train in building virtual courses on music. The training has helped music lecturers of the University develop a new perspective and update their knowledge of music expertise, music teaching supporting software, especially online teaching with the support of technology.  From the training, the lecture can gain insight and experience which is helpful for them to build a professional and quality online music education program, with the support of member institutions and experts from the project. On that basis, the Department of Music of the University can effectively implement the construction and development of the "Music Technology" training program, especially for online teaching and performance, encouraging active participation of students, addressing problems / obstacles in terms of geography or financial resources.

In addition, participating in this project has also created an opportunity for An Giang University to access and exchange with leading music training institutions in Europe such as the Conservatorio di Musica Alessandro Scarlatti di Palermo,  Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel (KCB), Yaşar University, Department of Music, Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen (AEC) and domestic institutions including Ha Long University, National University of Art Education Thu Dau Mot University, University of Da Nang - University of Science and Education and Dong Thap University, to learn and share practical experiences in music training. Hence, it enhances the university’s cooperation in the music field.

The Vietmus project is being implemented halfway through its journey and promises to bring many positive impacts on music training in Vietnam in the future at universities, specifically An Giang University. The University believes that the project is a great opportunity for lecturers and students of An Giang University to study and access advanced and updated training programs.
